INL’s Robotics and Intelligent Systems division has long been recognized as a leader for its work in the adaptive robotics field. Its researchers have published numerous articles on topics ranging from developing unmanned ground vehicles to detect land mines to robot swarms. In recent years, the division’s ground-breaking work has been honored and recognized by national and state organizations. In 2008, the division’s ARTHR project, a technology that builds on its celebrated Robot Intelligence Kernel, was nominated by INL for a R&D 100 Award. The RIK won high honors in 2006, including a R&D 100 award, a Stoel Rives Idaho Innovation award and a FLC Far West regional award. Journal Publications20072006D. J. Bruemmer, D. A. Few, C. W.
