HTTL researchers' inventions and publications have cemented the program's reputation in the international community.  HTTL scientists have designed, fabricated, and demonstrated heaters capable of maintaining high-temperature nuclear reactor core materials at their melting temperatures.
One internationally recognized HTTL invention, the High Temperature Irradiation Resistant Thermocouple (HTIR-TC), was awarded a patent (7,871,198), nominated by INL in 2007 for a R&D 100 Award, and was a finalist in the 2007 Stoel Rives Idaho Innovation Awards.
